Audiobook Production

Studio-quality narration, mastered for Audible and beyond — the fastest-growing way readers finish books.

Your Book, in the Format Readers Reach For Most

Audiobooks are the fastest-growing segment in publishing, and for good reason: commutes, gyms and dog walks are hours your book can occupy that a paperback never could. An audio edition also earns a second listing on every major store, which means a second chance to be discovered.

We handle the whole production — casting the narrator, directing the sessions, editing out every breath and page turn, and mastering to the technical standard each retailer demands. You approve the voice before recording starts and the first chapter before we finish the rest.

The Process

How Your Audiobook Gets Made

01

Casting

We send you narrator auditions reading a passage from your actual book — not a generic demo — so you hear how your words sound in that voice.

02

First Chapter Approval

The opening chapter is recorded and sent for your notes on pace, tone and character voices before the rest is booked.

03

Record & Edit

Full recording, followed by a line-by-line edit and quality-control listen against your manuscript to catch any dropped or misread word.

04

Master & Publish

Levelled, noise-floor checked and uploaded, with the retail sample chosen to hook a browsing listener.

Good to Know

Audiobook Questions

How much does an audiobook cost?

Pricing is per finished hour, and a finished hour is roughly 9,300 words. A typical 70,000-word book runs about 7.5 finished hours. Rates depend on the narrator you choose, so we quote once you have picked a voice.

Can I narrate my own book?

Yes, and for memoir and non-fiction it is often the better choice. We will direct the sessions and handle all the editing and mastering. If you are not near a studio, we can guide a remote-recorded setup and clean it up in post.

How long does production take?

Casting takes about a week, and production runs 4 to 6 weeks for a standard-length book. Retailer review after upload adds another 10 to 14 days before it goes live.

Do you use AI narration?

Only if you ask for it. Synthetic narration is cheaper and much faster, but human narration still outperforms it on listener reviews and returns, so we recommend a real narrator unless budget makes it impossible.

Who owns the audio files?

You do. You keep the master files, the rights and 100% of your royalties. We can publish exclusively for the higher Audible royalty rate, or go wide across every platform — your call.
